Vicenç Rosselló Verger

Vicenç Rosselló Verger carried out his studies in the Arts at the University of Valencia from 1954 to 1959. Soon after, he majored in geography and stayed on at the University of Valencia working as an adjunct professor of geography. He went on to become a professor at the University of Murcia and the University of Valencia in 1967 and 1969, respectively. Although his works covered many different fields, he particularly worked on his specialised subject – physical geography - in relation to Majorca and Valencia. Some of these works include: Mallorca, el sur y el sureste (1964), El litoral valencià (1969, doctoral thesis) where he studies broad subjects ranging from geomorphology to tourism, and the origin of the population centres of the coastal sector, Evolución urbana de la ciudad de Murcia (1975), Geografía general de España (1978), Cincuanta-cinc ciutats valencianes (1984), Geografía humana del País Valenciano (1990), Portolans procedents de col·leccions espanyoles. Segles xv-xvii (1995), L’Albufera de València (1995), Geografia del País Valencià (1995), La cartografia catalana (2000), Diccionari de geografia física (2003), Les illes, redescobertes (2006), etc. His articles have contributed to toponymy significantly (Toponímia, geografia i cartografia, 2004).  He has also been one of the main driving forces of toponymic studies in the Country of Valencia, and has dedicated an assortment of studies to Valencian toponymy.
